Fort Worth Zoo

Gosh, I haven’t posted in ages. I’ve been busy, just not posting. Today I went with a group of friends to the Fort Worth Zoo. It was fun to go through without kids. It was a beautiful day. Got a little warm towards the end. We even saw a horny toad and an armadillo (that wasn’t road kill). We also rode the train for a different perspective. Afterwards we went to Panera Bread for lunch. I had a Bacon Turkey Bravo and an apple. Very good.

Scrapbook Room

I’ve been meaning to post pictures of my somewhat recently redone scrapbook room. Finally getting around to it.

From left to right are my closet, the lower shelves and file cabinet, my computer/office desk, my TV and scrapbook desk (with my Cricut barely showing beneath), the upper shelves, and my window. All the shelving is Elfa from The Container Store.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

My book club read A Thousand Splendid Suns. Like my last post on Charlie’s Wilson War, it made me wonder where I was in the 80’s and 90’s. This book is about two women in Afghanistan and their lives. And it interweaves quite a bit of Afghani history and lifestyles. Our book club meeting was enhanced by a women who had just come back from duty in Afghanistan and had some items we could look at. And she filled us in a little on what life if like now for the people of that country. I really do have blinders on. But maybe they are starting to come off. About time.

Charlie Wilson’s War

Just watched this on DVD. Where was I in the 80’s? I know I was young (20’s an 30’s) and I was single, married and had a child. I know I was busy. But how did I miss all this while it was happening? Was it kept quiet or did I just have my head that far in the sand? I know I pay a lot more attention to world events now, but this is making me wonder what else I’m currently missing. Great movie. Of course, I always love Tom Hanks!

Trip to the Dallas Arboretum

Went to the Dallas Arboretum a few weeks ago with some neighborhood friends. We had a beautiful day. There were many beautiful flowers and plants. And we had a yummy lunch at the DeGolyer Garden Cafe.

Freedom Filer

Wow, it’s been ages since I posted. I’ve had a multitude of projects going on including a big garage sale, creating a new office/scrapbook room, and a trip to the Dallas Arboretum. I want to post more on those later. As part of my office cleanup I bought the Freedom Filer. It’s pricey, but I think I’m going to love filing with it. Well, not love. But I think it will be a lot easier.

A Sad Day for Scrapbooking in DFW

Monday morning, the 7th, I found out the Scrapbook Pad was closing. I’ve been cropping there most Saturday nights for a long time now. I have a wonderful circle of friends there. We crop, go out to eat, and go back and crop some more. As a group we are scrambling to find somewhere new to crop. We all want to continue our great friendships.
